Alone
Directed by: Brock Torunski
What Was Good?
The way the day-to-day life of the character is portrayed is really good, and how it is followed by a narrative. It really grabs the viewer's insight to their life in contrast to our own, and how much we take our lives for granted.
What Appealed to the Audience?
The small flashback dream at the start is appealing because it shows contrast from his old normal life to his new abnormal life, and the phone call from (presumably) his girlfriend adds an emotional touch. He narrates by saying 'I had that dream again', which makes it clear he really misses his loved ones and his old life.
What is the Target Audience?
The target audience would be people who are grasped by post-apocalyptic films, and more so, where someone is living a poor life alone. It helps us appreciate what we have, because the character here is talking about his day-to-day life after losing his loved ones as well as everybody else on the planet to a mysterious apocalypse.
What if Money Did Not Exist?
Directed By: Jared Lee
What Was Good?
The story had a moral to it, which I found interesting. The story opened up with the two main characters being children, and getting on each other's nerves. They grew up to live their dreams and the one became a mechanic. The mechanic is made out to be less important in the world than the other character, who had a well-paying job. The mechanic ended up helping him out when his wife was pregnant. This shows that money is not everything, and gratitude is a good enough reward on its own.
What Appealed to the Audience?
The way it followed the lives of two characters was interesting, and would grab the attention of anyone who is a fan of this kind of narrative. It had a life moral and helps show people money is not the most important thing in the world.
What is the Target Audience?
Pople of young ages, particularly ages 12-25. Also, people interested in life-story types of backgrounds. It has emotional aspects which will draw the attention of people who are in to that kind of thing. Mostly, however, it will attain the attention of short film fans.
Perfect Life
Directed By: Jared Lee and Hassaan Islam
What Was Good?
The thrilling side of this film was effective and well-executed by the team. The part where the man with the expensive car gets in and finds the other man in the car behind him wearing a balaclava, concealing most of his face. The lighting here reflects well off his face and makes him out to be creepy, and the audio also enhances the effect.
What Appealed to the Audience?
The gripping story will grab the attention of thriller fans, and people who are interested and drawn-in by twists and surprises. Such as, the man in the balaclava had a wife, two kids and an unborn child when they were hit by a speeding Mercedes driven by a drunk man. His life was crushed, which is why he tried to turn to a life of crime to fulfil his needs.
What is the Target Audience?
The target audience is between ages 16-30. It will get the attention of thriller fans and people interested in a well thought out and developed storyline, because this film most certainly has just that.
